about

This LP was recorded at Bentham Studio over two weeks in winter 2010. Simon played pretty much all of the instruments himself - except for the Viola (Debbie Wolfsohn) and Harmonica (Rob Dady.)

I decided it would be best to set the live room up to record everything Simon played at once. So we had mics ready for acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass, vocals, drums, percussion and harmonium all set up; So Simon could move easily from one instrument to the next without spending ages moving mics around.

This worked really well as it let Simon relax and play whatever he felt like at any given time.

Once the tracking was all done Simon headed back to London to work on his next book and i spent a few weeks mixing the album.

I'm really proud of this recording, Simon was fantastic to work with and very easy to record. I look forward to recording the next one.

about

Located in the grounds of Bentham House, Bentham Studio has inspiring views overlooking the Wiltshire ... more countryside.

It features a large wooden live room, creating an excellent sound for acoustic instruments, with room for a whole band to record live.

There is also a vocal booth for recording without reverb as well as a chill out room (which can be used as another live room) and kitchen. less
